Whenever he
felt himself getting overwhelmed or angry, he did two things.
He’d go to the
museum, and sit among the dinosaurs.
It put things
in perspective, knowing that humans are going to be just as extinct someday,
and knowing that it’ll probably be our big brains’ poor decisions that cause
it, not a meteor.
Then he’d sit,
look up at the stars, and allow himself to feel microscopic.
It made him
feel better, and washed away the superfluous, so he could focus on just doing
the best he could in every way, for the split second of his life.
